TWELFTH Self-Imposed Year of Projects - Y'all....I have something to share (Update #8)

Y'all, it's Sunday. And I have something to share.

I know it's hard to see, but the cranes are back. That is a sure sign that spring is coming. We're pretty sure they have a nest over by the creek, as they tend to hang out there, which is perfectly fine. They woke me up around 6am today. They sang me the song of their people. I wasn't even mad.

But, enough about that, on to the knitting!

FOs (Finished Objects)
1.
Josh's Winter Hat: started 20 December 2022; finished 2 January 2022
2.
NEYCO Hat: started 31 December 2022; finished 20 January 2022
3.
Hat: started 15 February 2023; finished 25 February 2023

I finished up a hat for Stormageddon in a whole 10 days. To be fair, it was also bulky yarn on big needles. Regardless, I finished another project.

It fits me. It fits Stormageddon. I call that a win. It was basically just some ribbing and stockinette and I divided the crown into four equal sections and did decreases on either side of each section. Nothing terribly fancy. The point is that I used up almost a half ball of leftover bulky yarn and Stormageddon gets a new hat. I still have about half a ball of leftovers in the green but I'll get around to that. That might even be my next project. We'll see.

Also, because the knitting on the actual hat is done, this is the Kitty at Christmas hat (without the earrings):

Yes, I know the one side is a bit wonky. It looks fine when worn. It's the side where the color changes happened and where I wove in ends. So yes, it's wonky. And it's fine. But this isn't officially done yet because the earrings aren't done. I need to get myself together and figure out what I'm going to do.

Anyway, moving on....

So. Yeah. Knitting this week. I did some. We should all be shocked. Maybe not. I'm still trying to figure out this whole work-life balance thing and some weeks it's okay and other weeks it's a total outhouse. This week was an okay week, as far as knitting. I finished up the hat for Stormageddon. Once I did that, I freed myself up to work on other things...and in this case, the "other things" was just the Socks for Little Man. Admittedly, I spent most of my time on the hat but I did work on the socks, and progress is progress. I also considered working on the Smile & Wave Fingerless Mitts but I need to put the thumb stitches on holders and I just didn't feel like trying to do that. So, you know, I didn't.

I don't think I did any other knitting. I did look at my next project, which is the mittens that match Josh's Winter Hat...which means I found the yarn and needles, which is always a good time. And it's important if I want to actually make the mittens.

This week was filled with some nasty weather. We were supposed to get around 10" of snow this week...instead, we got like 2" of sleet and ice, with a dusting of snow on top of it. Let's just say that Wednesday was not a fun day. My boss closed our office early on Wednesday due to the weather. We were all sent home at 2pm and told to finish our workday at home (if we had a telework agreement - and I do). Schools were closed for two days in a row, which did not thrill my children as it meant there would be make-up school days. They'll be fine.

Aside from the weather being wonky, not a lot else happened.

Oh wait. I lied. Little Man finished a lego set this week (the one he started the week before). It's a Star Wars set he got for Christmas.

Also, we got a new pinball machine. It's actually a virtual one so it's basically a big TV hooked up to a computer and it has 1500 virtual pinball games loaded. It's a nice compromise to getting a 30+ year old machine like the Addams Family...so, that works out well. It arrived on Tuesday, just before the storm, so everyone spent some time playing on Wednesday and Thursday.

And Fat Tuesday was this week (not that I'm a bit religious)...so I made beignets...because Mardi Gras. Actually, I made a half-batch because they don't do well cold so I only made enough that we would eat on the spot. I managed to be able to eat these two...and that was about it. ::sigh::

Oh, and my new car had it's first bath. It was...icky. Husband and I had Monday off so we went to Platteville for breakfast with Little Man's namesake (Husband's college advisor)...but first, the car needed a bath. So, we went through the car wash and the colors were pretty. Hence, photo.

Of course, the car is dirty again and will need a bath again. It's fine.

Anyway, I've rambled on enough and it's time for bed. I hope you've had a lovely week and weekend!
