I've done very little knitting this past week, which is kind of sad considering that I had the house to myself for most of the week. I did work a bit on the Star Stitch Shawl earlier last week but it's still in timeout to think about what it's done. So far, it does not want to admit any wrongdoing. So, it's going to sit in time out.

The baby blanket was pulled out for a few rows, which isn't a lot but it's growing and that's Important. Capital letter Important. Because now I've been conscripted to make another one. ::sigh:: Apparently another coworker is having a baby or had a baby...he wasn't exactly clear on that. Regardless, I've got another one. I'll have to buy some yarn, however, which is fine. I'll get there.

With the boys out of the house for most of the week, it was fairly quiet around here. I did have a family funeral to attend on Thursday. While sad, it was not unexpected. He was 84 years old and had been in failing health for some time. His father and my grandfather were brothers, making he and my mother first cousins. He has two children and three step-children. The last time I saw the one cousin, I was pregnant with Stormageddon and he, his wife, and their son were on a road trip from Washington state while we lived in California. His sister I had not seen since my grandparents' 50th anniversary in 1996 or so. Then there are the step-cousins...they have kids I went to school with briefly but I hadn't seen them in probably close to 30 years. So that was a bit nuts. The ones I'm biologically related to came out to the house on Saturday, which was nice, as they all live very far from here. My one cousin, his wife, and their son now live in Arizona (they moved from Washington a few years ago) and his sister lives in Georgia.

We did manage a couple photos. My cousin and his son, and I (the son is almost 17 and that is his mother's beer, not his), the photo was taken by my cousin's wife.

And then Little Man with his older cousin. I'd say they look alike...except said cousin is actually adopted. Doesn't matter. They still make plenty of the same faces.

In addition to that, I also got to see my great aunt and great uncle. But this was my grandmother's brother and his wife, so a different branch of the family. My great uncle and my cousin who passed away worked together so they were also at the funeral. They are also the same vintage - meaning my great uncle will be 84 this year sometime. So, it was good to see them, too.

The boys came home a few days early so the house was not as clean as I wanted it to be. The boys had a lot of work to do upstairs. I doubt it's actually fully finished, honestly. I'll have to go check.

Other than that, I can't say much has been happening this week. Don't count on me being on time next week...we have California company coming so I'll be up up down down left right left right b a start....all week. And longer than that. We'll see what happens.

I hope you have had a lovely week and weekend!
