I've not done a lot of knitting this week but I've done some here and there. I worked on the Smile & Wave Fingerless Mitts in the car yesterday. I didn't make a lot of progress because I had to fix a couple of stitches here and there. Apparently I am incapable of counting to four sometimes. Who knew? I'm just working on the finger portion of the second one. Then I have thumbs and weaving in ends. Then done. Who knows how long that will take.

In addition to that, I maybe worked a row or two on the baby blanket but I must have stopped mid-row at some point because that's how I found my needles. And a couple stitches had slid off...so I had to fix that. It was only like three stitches and I didn't have a big issue fixing it, which is good. I also didn't cry. Also good.

But that was about it.

Moving along......

Most of this past week has been fairly quiet, honestly. Last weekend, on Sunday, I spent some time with Melissa, from Four Crows Fibers, in her dye studio. See, ever since we moved back to Wisconsin, I haven't dyed any yarn (except when I took a class with Melissa last summer). I don't have the proper facilities here. I mean, I have access to the pots and hot water and all that but i don't have a space to set it up and I'm not crazy about doing it it Husband's workshop, even though it's got virtually everything I'd need. So, Melissa and I got to talking about dyeing and I've had the bug. I asked if she'd be agreeable to my coming into her space to dye yarn. I have the yarn (and the dye powders, actually)...and she was agreeable so we did just that.

I pulled out 10 skeins of Peruvian Highland wool, sock weight, that I picked up from a destash. Actually, I pulled more than that but this is what I wound up dyeing. There are four skeins of the blue and six skeins of the reddish orangey yellowish that I've got going on. The idea in my head was that I was going to do a tonal with the four skeins for Little Man. It turned out a bit darker than I was anticipating but he didn't seem to mind. The other six were dyed the same way, each divided into four sections of yellow, orange, red, and a different red, and then they all had speckles throughout. But the dye didn't set so there was some running, They still go together...but I'm definitely going to have to alternate skeins when I use the yarn.

Little Man had his annual appointment with his metabolic specialist...except they still haven't hired one. So, he's just seen the dietician and the nurse practitioner for the genetics team. They're recommending he add melatonin at night to help him sleep. So we've been doing that. I don't know if it's helping yet or not but we'll see.

I also went to the annual Lands End Tent Sale in Dodgeville. I went last year (a couple times)...I came home with some clothes for work, which was the point. I think I did that on Wednesday.

Friday night we had some nasty storms roll though the area. There were multiple severe thunderstorm warnings, as well as tornado warnings. We are down in a valley so we did not have the 70 mph straight line winds like more flattened areas of sourthern Wisconsin experienced. We did have a lot of rain, thunder, lightning...the whole thing. There was so much lightning that we could see all across our property for an extended period of time. The boys were less tha happy about attempting to sleep in our room but I think once they were in the middle, they were happy we told them to come snuggle with us.

And then yesterday came...we had a busy day. After doing some cleaning, we dropped Little Man off for a birthday party, and then Husband, Stormageddon, and I went to Chicago to pick up Little Man's best friend from California and his older sister from the airport. That also meant a stop at Superdawg for dinner, which is always delightful.

I had to go through airport security and all that to get the kids from the gate. But I found them. And then we got on our merry way.

Little Man was at a birthday party so it was Husband, Stormageddon, and myself that picked them up.

We stopped at Culvers, as you do. When we came out, we found this guy on the hood of my car. Husband actually took the photo. We were very curious how he got up on top of the hood of my car until we tried to pick him up to move him and he lept about five feet in the air, over our hands, and landed in the parking lot and started hopping away.

And this was the moon reflecting directly into one of our cameras last night. It wasn't as bright as this picture implies but it still looked amazing.

Anyway, I hope you've had a lovely week and weekend!
